Outreach and training programs

Empowering communities with knowledge and resources to recognize, prevent, and respond to conjugal and family violence through culturally sensitive education.

Our mission

At the Shield of Athena, community outreach is a core part of our mission. We regularly deliver informational sessions, presentations, and training to both the general public and professionals, helping raise awareness about conjugal and family violence and sharing our multilingual and culturally sensitive services.

Our outreach efforts aim to educate, engage, and empower communities to recognize the signs of abuse and respond with compassion and support.

Our programs

Public Awareness

We deliver informational sessions and presentations to community groups, religious organizations, schools, and cultural centers to raise awareness about domestic violence.

Professional Training

We provide specialized training for professionals who may encounter victims of domestic violence in their work, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to respond effectively.

Why our work matters

“When victims are shamed, isolated, or unsupported, they are far more likely to remain in dangerous
situations—putting both themselves and their children at serious risk. By strengthening community
understanding and reducing stigma, we help build a network of safety and solidarity around those
who need it most.”

Together, we can create safer, more informed communities where victims feel empowered to seek help and where everyone
plays a role in preventing domestic violence.

Prevention

Early education and awareness help prevent violence before it begins.

Intervention

Trained communities can identify warning signs and intervene appropriately.
